Scope
Customers create an account to use our services to store data on and retrieve data from our systems. Their account information always includes their email address. A customer may choose the free level of service that provides for up to 10 gigabytes of free storage. No additional information is requested for free accounts. If a customer wishes to purchase additional storage or utilize a public bucket, they will provide their name, address, phone number, and payment information. Customers may opt-in to use our computer location option. If so, we record the TCP/IP address of the customer's computer. We use third parties such as Stripe to process the payments and refunds. We use email marketing companies such as Hubspot and SendGrid to communicate with customers. We use text verification companies such as Plivo and Twillio as a viable two-factor authentication method to customers and to send optional notifications.

What GDPR means, and what it does not

"GDPR compliant" is a claim, not a certification. The verifiable facts are a public DPA, SCC usage, an EU representative, data residency options and a Data Privacy Framework listing.

Questions buyers ask

Is Backblaze GDPR compliant?

There is no GDPR certification in general use. The verifiable facts are a public data processing agreement, standard contractual clauses, an EU representative and a Data Privacy Framework listing. See the legal artefacts and the DPF row on this page, each with its capture date.

How does CertReports verify this?

Every state carries a capture date, a source and a snapshot link. Registry rows come from the official registry data; vendor statements come from the vendor’s own page or trust centre; nothing is inferred. Vendors can dispute any row and corrections ship within two business days.
