- ClassLink provides single sign-on and rostering software to educational institutions, and processes personal data to enable these capabilities. ClassLink only maintains a minimal amount of data about students. For example, first and last names, username, and email address. Other personally identifiable information (PII), such as date of birth, ethnicity, gender, phone numbers, contact info, etc., are maintained on the customer’s own Roster Server, which is completely under the customer’s control. Additionally, data from different customers are never mixed together on a Roster Server; each Roster Server is used by one and only one district. When a customer sends its data to an online application vendor for account provisioning and user experience, they do so themselves, and are in complete control of which data records and fields are sent over. ClassLink does not take responsibility for how an application vendor uses their data. The customer would enter into a direct agreement with each application vendor for their service. The ClassLink environment only makes it easier for the customer to access the online application, and to send the application vendor the data needed to provision accounts.
