Foursquare collects personal data about consumers located in the EU, UK and Switzerland in various ways, such as when consumers interact with Foursquare’s websites, mobile applications and other online services that Foursquare owns or controls (the “Services”) and if Foursquare licenses personal data about such consumers from third parties. The types of relevant consumer personal data Foursquare collects include (1) data provided to Foursquare when consumers create an account (e.g., name, email address, phone number, birthday, gender, city and, where applicable, social media username and other data); (2) data that consumers provide when they use the Services (including pictures uploaded, messages sent through apps, searches, likes, follows, check-ins, tips, survey responses, demographic information and any other data voluntarily provided); (3) geolocation data; (4) data about how consumers interact with the Services, e.g., search words, page views, date and time of interactions, time spent on pages or posts; (5) payment and billing information; (6) data about a consumer’s device, such as hardware model, operating system and version, unique ID and device data, such as device identifiers, IP address, sensor data, browser type, language, wireless network, mobile device name and types of mobile apps installed; (7) data from cookies, pixels and other technologies, such as cookie ID, advertising ID or other unique advertising ID, web beacons and local storage; and (8) data received from third parties (such as business customers and service providers), including demographics, consumer interactions with third party websites and apps, and device data (including mobile device and advertising identifiers, such as Apple IDFA or Google Advertising ID) and information from cookies, pixels and other similar technologies. Foursquare may use this information for the purposes described in its Privacy Policy. Foursquare may disclose personal data (1) to third-party processors the company has retained to perform services on its behalf and pursuant to its instructions, (2) if it is required to do so by law or legal process, or (3) in response to lawful requests from public authorities, including to meet national security, public interest or law enforcement requirements. Foursquare also processes the data of employees located in the EU. Purposes of processing are covered in our employee privacy policy.

What GDPR means, and what it does not

"GDPR compliant" is a claim, not a certification. The verifiable facts are a public DPA, SCC usage, an EU representative, data residency options and a Data Privacy Framework listing.

Questions buyers ask

Is Foursquare Labs GDPR compliant?

There is no GDPR certification in general use. The verifiable facts are a public data processing agreement, standard contractual clauses, an EU representative and a Data Privacy Framework listing. See the legal artefacts and the DPF row on this page, each with its capture date.

How does CertReports verify this?

Every state carries a capture date, a source and a snapshot link. Registry rows come from the official registry data; vendor statements come from the vendor’s own page or trust centre; nothing is inferred. Vendors can dispute any row and corrections ship within two business days.
