- 1. SAS Institute Inc. (SAS) is a analytics software provider that processes personal data (customer/client data) in its Hosted Managed Services environments. For this customer/client data, the SAS customer is the controller and SAS is the processor. SAS’ customers are from a wide range of industries (retail, health, banking, insurance, etc.) so the data is primarily data pertaining to SAS’ customers’ customers (end users). In large part SAS personnel do not need to access the underlying data unless there is an issue or problem with the environment or software. Any access is performed using a minimum necessary/least privilege access model. SAS does not share any data with third parties except to the extent required in order to perform the hosting services for our customers.
