Our clients serve as the data controllers and direct the handling and processing of data collected. Yardi acts as a processor upon the instructions of our clients in respect of the personal data we handle for them. Acting for our clients, Yardi processes personal data of prospective, active, and past tenants related to leasing transactions, payment processing for rent and related payments, and tenant maintenance requests. Typically, the purposes for which this personal data is used within our platform are determined by our clients. Yardi also acts as a data controller in respect of prospects, leads, clients and potential clients, visitors and attendees as well as end users of our website(s) and other online properties. In this instance, Yardi is the data controller and we process personal data for the purposes of lead generation, marketing and sales, contact management, account management and billing, conducting surveys and processing feedback, processing complaints, responding to feedback, questions and support, to support and tailor preferences, perform analytics and usage analysis and other processing; as well as to protect Yardi against, identify and prevent fraud and other criminal activity, enforce terms, claims and other liabilities; and comply with and enforce applicable legal requirements, relevant industry standards and the company’s policies. Yardi may disclose personal data to third parties for the purposes of providing the services described above. Third parties include, but are not limited to: (1) payment processors for any applicable fees associated with an event or transaction; and (2) email, text message, image, and compliance management providers.
